Everyone seems to have missed the fact that these radical terrorists actually used the capitalist system to get what they want. By skipping hospital appointments, they reduced the profit margin of the operation. The administrators addressed this new target market and increased revenue in the process.

I agree this is absolutely disgusting! These religious fundamentalists should have done it the red blooded American way by initiating a huge lawsuit! Oh well, I guess the silver lining is these women got their way by behaving like the doormats they were raised to be and in the process set back women's rights about 50 years! WOOOO-HOOOOO! Dammit Lan! I just thought of that!

Our own little neoconservative gae is railing against market forces as an agent of change.

Is that a rip in the space time continuum I see over there?

Pina, is it really too much to ask that we expect people who live in this country to abide by our generally accepted standards and laws? You are free to practice your religion as promised in the constitution but religion doesn't apply to drivers licenses, hospital gowns, or anything else. Like gae said, were I to try some of the crap muslims pull here in the name of their religion, in THEIR country....I would be, at best, told no. At worst...who knows.

Why do I, we, us, have to accept everyone's quirks, demands, beliefs, practices, in OUR, THIS, country and automatically have to accomodate them????

Sounds like bullshit, ACLU, leftwing, can't we all just get along horse crap to me.

that's exactly correct Pina. It IS America. It's not Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Jordan, etc.

What part of my last post didn't you understand? I said you can practice religion all you like. It's gaurenteed under the constitution. Refusing to show your face on a license, or complaining about hospital gowns are not.

Our laws are not in place for amusement only. To quote a line from Top Gun: "Either follow them or you are history"

Seems simple to me

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I understood the whole thing. One thing that I found disturbing was this:
Like gae said, were I to try some of the crap muslims pull here in the name of their religion, in THEIR country....
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Last time I looked this was "their" country. Just because someone is muslim does not strip them of their citizenship here. Your assumption that being muslim automatically means you are from Iraq or Iran or wherever is ignorant and frankly bigoted.

Why do I, we, us, have to accept everyone's quirks, demands, beliefs, practices, in OUR, THIS, country and automatically have to accomodate them????
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Because acceptance of different beliefs and practices is what this country is founded on. It is the cornerstone upon which everything else here is built. It?s what I was protecting when I served and, like it or not, it is what you were protecting.

Hehehe, this thread is really amusing. It is difficult to believe we are arguing about the universally detested hospital gown. Some American citizens quietly skipped appointments to avoid them and the hospital administrators seized a profit opportunity by redesigning the gown. Some folks hate change so much that they're pissed about that! Heheeeee, who says outrage is dead? Well you can relax fellow Cincinnatians, it will be another 20 years before that subversive garment catches on here. AHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Note to Pina: When you want to insult me, please refrain from odd colored small fonts. These old eyes just ain't what they used to be, and CK surgery is still a bit out of the budget right now.

Back OT:

This is America. I'm an American. I'm female. In THIS culture, it's perfectly acceptable for me, a female, to go to the beach or a pool in a bikini. I'm not saying that anyone necessarily wants to see it, but it is culturaly acceptable.

WTF do you think would happen if I went to Iraq and tried the same thing?

Would they change things to accept me? I think not. I'd probably be beheaded. If that happened, Pina would no longer visit this board, and the world would be a smaller place.

My problem is now, and has always been, the idea of assimilation. Muslims don't like hospital johnnies? Fine. Go back to the sand dunes and get care there.

You and Lan both so subscribe to the NIMBY stuff when it comes to diversity. Do us all a favor and get your keisters out of the country for a month or 12. Then come back and tell me that America isn't fair.
